Bittersweet

OK this is going to a boring post to most of you, OK all of you. It is more of a journal cry for help. We decided to take Connor's Bink's away. It has been a full 24 without those darn things. He went to bed rather well last night so I thought it would keep getting better. Wes left to go to work today and maybe that is the reason why we are both having a hard time. Connor cried for almost 45 minutes when I put him down for his nap today, and another 30 minutes when I put him to bed tonight. The girls were 2 before we got rid of theirs but I was so sick of Connor's. He always had one in each hand and one in his month. He was such a Binki boy. He has stashes of them around the house. I would take them away and he would come walking out with 2 more. I moved his crib last night before I put him to bed and found 8 behind his bed and between the bumper pad and crib. I hope tomorrow is better. I can't cave in now. The hard part is done. I don't know why this is so hard on me with him. I guess because he is my last baby and I hate to see him sad.

Awwww. Poor mommy! Hannah always had them stashed too! I would cut a little bit off at a time so she wouldnt even have anything to suck on and she was still persistent--shed suck on nothing! I feel your pain though. They grow so fast.

o.k. Confession corner...James still has a binki because I don't want to deal with "taking it away" Now that you've taken them, don't give them back. It took my other kids about 4 days of crying before they stopped. So, happy days!!

So sad, my Kamrie was the worst. She always loved to find hair on the ground, disgusting I know, and then she would wrap it around her binkie. She decided one week that hey I have my own hair I don't need to look for it or yank it out of mommys. Within one week she had pulled about half of her hair out on one side. She looked like a cancer patient for about 6 months. I had to do the baby comb over to cover it up. Needless to say, I took the bink away and she stopped. It was a rough rough week though. Good Luck!!!

Hi Malisa, it's Kim, Brents wife. I just had to say I dread the day I take away Elsie's binky. She only has it at bed time now, but there are times when I lay her down forgetting the binky and she makes sure to let me know! You are brave. Good luck with it!
Oh and our Madi is 7 too.

Oh Malis...that must be so hard. I feel for you. Good luck and stay strong! You should have done it when Wes was home for a few days so that he could feel your pain!

It'll be over soon. You'll be glad with flu season coming, he won't be picking up all those germs! When they such their thumb (Jade) you can't take that away and the germs - yuck!

Oh Malis I dont envy you at all! I hated taking Callies passie away. That thing was a lifesaver I probably liked it more then she did and she liked one in each hand and one in her mouth as well! I was sad that my baby was getting too big!! Hang in there and keep one for a keepsake just for YOU! The other blog is nothing I was going to use it for designs I liked but never did I should delete it!!! Love ya!

Good for you for sticking to your guns. It's hard, though, to see them so upset. Especially when they're as cute as Connor. Emma discovered her fingers (middle & ring finger on her left hand) around 5 months, so I haven't had to deal with taking the binkie away. But, she still sucks on her fingers and I'm hoping she grows out of it after her baby teeth fall out.
